E4S serves the region in the following ways:
- Attracting and inviting a community of champions and innovators to work together to grow a sustainable regional economy - creating a culture of sustainability.
- Raising awareness of the opportunities to put sustainability to work.
- Inspiring and holding a vision of what is possible for the region since 2000.
- Creating opportunities for leaders from all sectors to connect, learn, do sustainability (in person and on line) - finding their place in a sustainable economy.
- Celebrating best practices and champions every month. Hosting the E4S Champions of Sustainability Awards since 2003.
- Catalyzing the implementation of sustainable business strategies - First steps, next steps, bold steps.
- Recognizing and supporting the emergence of a new organizational approach, action networks, that quickly spreads new ideas and enages and encourages self-directed, self-organized action.
