E4S Announces the Re-launch of the E4S Akron Network

The Akron network events will take place on the second Wednesday of every month, beginning June 8, from 5:30 – 8:30pm at Musica, located in downtown Akron at 51 E. Market Street on Maiden Lane.

Michael Dungan, Executive Director (interim) for E4S states that the Akron community
has been a long time supporter of the work of E4S. “We felt it was important to remain
embedded in the Akron market as we advance the implementation of sustainability principles
across businesses, government agencies and non-profit organizations. Through the cheerleading of community members and the support of the John S. Knight Foundation and the Akron Community Foundation, we are able to bring E4S programming back to the greater Akron
area in 2011.”

E4S offered regular networking events and learning programs in Akron in 2008 and 2009
but suspended activity in the market due to the economic slowdown that affected the
region. The organization plans to add a Network Entrepreneur as a full-time staff
member to manage the relaunch and growth of the Akron network.

Since 2000, E4S has been honored for its innovative approach to sustainable economic
development through the power of networks and peer-to-peer learning opportunities.
Over 10,000 individuals have been touched by E4S programming over that span of time
leading to measurable outcomes in the areas of energy efficiency, local food, renewable
energy, biomimicry as a design discipline, and zero waste. As the organization enters its
second decade of service, its mission continues with a focus on connection, learning and
action through network engagement.
