E4S Vision

Many in the E4S Network own businesses that are from the industries that are shifting first towards a sustainable economy. We refer to these industries as the Local Living Economy: local food, high performance building, next generation energy (energy efficiency, wind, solar, fuel cells), transportation, eco-systems services (clean air, water and soil) and recycling (waste=food).

As E4S started to bring these industries together, first within their industry and later integrating industries, what started to crystallize was an inspiring set of opportunities for our region. It is this vision that inspires E4S and the E4S Network.

Northeast Ohio was recognized as:

• A network of urban and rural centers with abundant sustainably produced local foods available for all citizens and where a greater percentage of the region’s $6.7 billion food budget is spent locally.
• The home of the largest green building products industry in the U.S. and to the largest stock of healthy, high performance buildings for home and business.
• The first region with a sustainable energy portfolio for buildings, manufacturing and transportation.
• The world’s leader in developing technologies and creating jobs in the restoration economy by embracing water, air, soil and ecosystem rejuvenation.
• A place where waste is seen as an asset. Innovative technologies transform waste streams into value added products used to create wealth in the region.
• The region with the largest percentage of triple bottom line businesses - transforming how we do business in Northeast Ohio.
