Holly Harlan, an entrepreneur, engineer, and economic and business development specialist for over 25 years, works with entrepreneurial leaders in business, NGO`s, government and academia to implement sustainability principles into product, service, process and community designs. She is especially skilled at and fond of creating and leading learning communities that embrace the implementation of sustainability principles. From the beginning of her career as an engineer with General Electric and John Deere, she has been trained as a change agent. Today she helps leaders discover the changes that will enhance their business`s ability to thrive in a healthy environment, while maintaining or restoring the quality and quantity of natural resources remaining for future generations. As an intern at Rocky Mountain Institute in 2000 she learned the basics of Natural Capitalism and has attended several workshops to learn Cradle to Cradle Design with McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry. She has learned the most about implementing sustainabilty principles from working on projects with the members of the E4S Network that she started in 2000.


Stephanie Strong

Stephanie Strong has worked in the Cleveland environmental non-profit community for over five years. Previously as the Clean Fuels Director at Earth Day Coalition, she worked to improve federal, state and local policy related to advancing the use of clean, American fuels, which reduce pollution and reliance on petroleum. Stephanie served as the Northern Ohio clean fuel`s industry information warehouse director, Department of Energy contact, funding resource, community connector and educator for public and private fleets, consumers and the media. During her tenure as Clean Fuels Director, Stephanie increased the local program`s membership base, diversified funding and held a number of successful fleet training seminars and consumer education events. Prior, she was the managing editor of national publication and web site in Columbus, Ohio and is a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College.


Victoria Avi

Victoria Avi has been in the United States since 1997 since her family immigrated to the United States from Baku, Azerbaijan. She graduated from Cleveland State University with a B.A. in Graphic Design in 2003. While working as a graphic designer for Aquent, a talent agency, she decided to return to school and pursue an M.A. degree in Environmental Studies from the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs. Victoria is active with the Cleveland AIGA Chapter and currently serves as an Advocacy / Diversity Chair concentrating on the AIGA national initiatives that are sustainability and diversity. Victoria started volunteering for E4S in 2006 and joined the staff in January of 2007.


Annabel Khouri

Annabel Khouri has over 10 years of professional work experience, including managing nonprofit organizations and consulting government agencies and small businesses. Prior to joining E4S, Annabel worked for a non-governmental organization in Kenya developing business processes to help scale operations to reach over 30,000 new clients. Annabel graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.S. in Business Administration and earned her MBA from American University in 2005. Originally from Vermont, Annabel moved to Cleveland in 2007 from the DC area.


Peter McDermott

Network Weaver

Peter McDermott joined E4S as an intern in 2007 to create the E4S Sustainable B2B Directory. He now provides network connections and catalyzes sustainable business projects as an E4S Network Weaver. An avid gardener and local food enthusiast, Peter uses his experience in social network development to catalyze new businesses and collaborative projects in the local food industry. Peter is a graduate of Cleveland State University with a B.A. in History.

Reflection

Using widely available energy-saving materials and equipment, most building managers can reduce their energy bills by at least 25% to 40% through basic weatherization, hot water savings, and a few other simple and cost-effective measures.
