Waste News Praises Clean Programs The Plain Dealer November 27, 2007 From Staff Reports Waste Management Inc. and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are winners of the 2007 Waste News environmental awards. In 2007, Waste Management announced a broad environmental initiative, agreeing to spend up to $5 billion to cut fleet emissions and double the amount of recycled materials it handles. It also agreed to invest up to $400 million in landfill gas recovery projects. The corps is wrapping up its two-year cleanup of the destruction caused by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
