Local Organizations:

The Clean Air Conservancy is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to continuously improving our shared environment by retiring marketable emission-reduction credits. Our goal is to participate in developing local, regional, national and global pollution markets in ways that can produce cleaner air and help slow the pace of global climate change.

GreenCityBlueLake/EcoCity Cleveland and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History have merged to create The Center for Regional Sustainability, which will educate the public about the design of ecological cities and how human beings can live sustainably on Earth in the 21st century. The center is currently developing a Climate Action Plan for Northeast Ohio.

National/International Resources:

ICLEI — Local Governments for Sustainability is an international association of local governments and national and regional local government organizations that have made a commitment to sustainable development. Their Cities for Climate ProtectionTM (CCP) campaign assists cities to adopt policies and implement quantifiable measures to reduce local greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and enhance urban livability and sustainability.

Chicago Climate Exchange is the world’s first and North America’s only active voluntary, legally binding integrated trading system to reduce emissions of all six major greenhouse gases (GHGs), with offset projects worldwide. Members make a voluntary but legally binding commitment to meet annual GHG emission reduction targets. Those who reduce below the targets have surplus allowances to sell or bank; those who emit above the targets comply by purchasing CCX Carbon Financial Instrument® (CFI™) contracts.
