“The Schneiderman”
Socially Responsible Business Champion Award

This award named for Brian Schneiderman, one of the Entrepreneurs for Sustainability’s founders, will be awarded to the Champion of Sustainability whose work most exemplifies the social equity or socially responsible aspect of the triple bottom line. This award is a new addition to the six other Champions of Sustainability awards.

Brian is a champion of socially responsible business. At each strategic turn, Brian challenges the business leaders he serves to think about how what they do can better serve the community. Community includes employees, customer, suppliers, neighbors and the larger local civic arena. Brian’s career has been dedicated to helping the people in the communities he served: In el Salvador at CENCITA (El Centro de Cooperación Integral sobre Tecnologías Alternativas ); In Washington D.C. at FINCA (Foundation for International Community Assistance); In Cleveland at Weatherhead as a student leader for Net Impact, and after graduation at Shorebank and Entrepreneurs for Sustainability. Brian’s next career and life goals have taken him back to his home state of North Carolina to continue his work with community at Self-Help Credit Union.

Champions for social equity may provide educational opportunities for their employees or partner with local non-profits or government to directly serve the community or give to organizations that improve the quality of life for all those who live and work in their communities. The nominees for this award will be those who inspire others to implement sustainability in their world and those whom Brian would have loved to work with toward their goals.
