Michael Dungan
BeeDance

The Nominator: Bob Sopko, Case Western Reserve University

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How has the nominee implemented sustainable business practices in his or her business or organization and what are the triple bottom line benefits (people, planet, prosperity) of the nominee`s work?
Started zerolandfill.    People - Makes available architectural product samples to artists, educators and students at no cost.    Planet - What in the past was being landfilled now has a useful life.    Prosperity - Companies do not have to pay to have the material disposed.  There are models for a profitable use of this method for other products to be reused in various ways.
How has the nominee inspired you to implement sustainable business practices?
There was a small start and it`s grown well over the years.    Many companies, artists, teachers and students have been served through a well designed and evolving practice.    BeeDance is already thinking of ways to further help by developing 10,000 new beekeepers throughout the world.
How can someone else translate the success of the nominee? Is the work of the nominee an example or model that others can follow?
Learn that starting without having all the answers is required.   Adjust and make a commitment to surround yourself with long term individuals who have a common vision.
How does the nominee actively participate in the sustainability community? How do they collaborate and share their knowledge with others?
Mike teaches enterpreneurship at Hiram College.  Many of the students have a sustainable function in their business plans.  Mike also has been vital to the life of e4s.
Anytime you can be in a room of 150 people that are as intensely interested in something that concerns you it's very helpful. I never go to a meeting where I don’t end up in a conversation with three to four different outcomes.
