The Nominator:Jessica Davis, Tremont Electric

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How has the nominee implemented sustainable business practices in his or her business or organization and what are the triple bottom line benefits (people, planet, prosperity) of the nominee`s work?
Aaron is the founder of Tremont Electric. Tremont Electric develops and commercializes renewable power generation solutions based on its recently patented nPower® energy conversion technology (US Patent 7,498,682). The goal of Tremont Electric is to provide the world with renewable energy that reduces the consumer’s personal carbon footprint, is brought to market in a sustainable manner, and is manufactured in Cleveland, Ohio. nPower® is a vibration harvesting technology. The concept behind nPower® technology originated while Aaron LeMieux, Tremont Electric Founder & CEO, was backpacking on the Appalachian Trail. Aaron wanted to supply power to his walkman without having to carry the extra weight of disposable batteries on the trail. He knew that the pack he carried on his back possessed a significant amount of kinetic energy. Aaron set out to devise a means of converting kinetic energy (which he had an excess of) to electrical energy (which he needed), and nPower® is the result. nPower® technology produces significantly more usable power than any other alternative energy product of similar size. nPower® produces zero emissions and can be scaled for a multitude of applications for generating less than 1 watt to more than 100 kilowatts. While the core of the Company’s business is nPower® technology, a method of generating renewable electricity, the means for which the Company brings this technology to market reflects our commitment to sustainability. Sustainability is a process, thus Tremont Electric is committed to: instilling sustainability as a corporate value; using the least amount of resources necessary to manufacture, market, and distribute product; educating employees, shareholders, and customers regarding environmental concerns and efforts; and measuring the benefits of utilizing nPower® technology. The nPower® intellectual property is centered exclusively on the interaction of electromagnetic fields with the physical world. nPower® technology produces significantly more usable power than any other alternative energy product of similar size. nPower® produces zero emissions and can be scaled for a multitude of applications for generating less than 1 watt to more than 100 kilowatts. The scalability and range of applications of nPower® technology will provide personal and utility scaled consumers with a feasible opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint. The nPower® PEG is recyclable and completely ROHS compliant. RoHS, an environmental regulation implemented by the EU, will increase the demand for manufacturers to find an alternative to disposable batteries. Government directives are beginning to mandate a “closed loop” system for batteries whereby countries need to “take all necessary measures to avoid the final disposal of spent batteries.” nPower® will eliminate the need for batteries in certain applications such as powering lights and sounds in children’s toys. Tremont Electric is also initiating a product buy-back program to both repurpose the PEG to developing nations and to eliminate the PEG from contributing mass to landfills.
