Barry Zucker
Ohio Coalition Against the Misuse of Pesticides

The Nominator: Rosemary Woodruff

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How has the nominee implemented sustainable business practices in his or her business or organization?
Barry has practically single-handedly created a market within local school districts state wide for Integrated Pest Management services. He was instrumental in the insertion of IPM language in the new Ohio school safety law (Jaron`s Law). Before that, he convinced several school districts and the Cuyahoga County Library system to adopt IPM.
What is the triple bottom line benefit (people, planet, prosperity) of the nominee`s work?
People (especially children who are most sensitive to pesticides) will be healthier; there will be fewer pesticides used, and once IPM is in place, school districts will save money.
How has the nominee inspired you to implement sustainable business practices?
Barry is tireless and persuasive. He lets others know how one person can make a huge difference in the lives of others.
How can someone else translate the success of the nominee? Is the work of the nominee an example or model that others can follow?
Barry holds to his convictions regardless of roadblocks placed in his path. He is a stalwart and a mensch. Keeping true to your goal and not losing your humanity are pretty good things to emulate.
